This passage from Jerry Bridges' book Respectable Sins: Confronting the Sins We Tolerate challenged me on my daily need to "preach the gospel" to me:“Preach the gospel to yourself every day.” That is what we must do in order to daily, consciously appropriate the gospel. We must preach it to ourselves every day. Not only that, we need to personalize it to ourselves, as Paul did when he wrote of “the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20, emphasis added).
